What to Expect At Your First Appointment
Each patient will have a lengthy one-on-one care with a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in abdominal and pelvic health. This is your opportunity to share your story and paint a picture of your health status for us. The initial evaluation includes a full body assessment. Each therapist will take time to consider how your posture, movement patterns, and daily habits affect your condition.
For many pelvic disorders, this appointment may require an internal pelvic floor muscle assessment, performed either vaginally or rectally, dependent upon condition and anatomy. We will adapt to your comfort level. Your therapist will give you a diagnosis based on examination, provide education on your condition, and work with you to set goals for treatment. We will lay the foundation for a plan to help you get the results you want. You will have exercises and fitness strategies that you can implement immediately.
Please arrive 10 minutes early to your first appointment. This will allow time to check in and fill out any missed paperwork prior to your appointment. Additionally, please wear exercise-oriented clothing including shorts, as we will be movement assessment on the first day.
What to Expect at Your Follow-up Sessions
Follow-ups are scheduled weekly initially to give you the best start on your program to achieve optimal, lasting results. Each session builds on the previous session. We have a consistent process we follow to help you get to your goals. We will monitor and modify your program as we integrate new strategies into meaningful function, movement, behaviors, mindset modification and fitness. You will have homework at each session to complete prior to next visit. Self-care, independence, and application of concepts into a regular, self-driven fitness program without aches and pains, or pelvic/abdominal health issues is the ultimate goal of each individual’s program. We have flexibility to offer extended sessions for those who are from out of town or those who need it.
Cancellation Policy
Our cancellation policy is simple. We understand life events come up and require juggling. It happens on our end too. Please notify us at least 2 business days prior to your visit to avoid a charge. Please note if you have a Monday appointment, you will need to notify us the week before to change/cancel. In-person visits can be converted to virtual video chat to avoid a charge. Should you miss your appointment or fail to notify us, you will be charged 50% of your total visit cost.
