Dr. Casey Smith

Dr. Casey Smith is a Board Certified Women’s Health Specialist physical therapist, Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist, and Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist. She is based in Richmond, Virginia, after moving to the area from New York City in 2016. Dr. Casey specializes in the evaluation and treatment of abdominal and pelvic conditions such as urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic pain, pelvic girdle dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, diastasis recti, constipation, pelvic organ prolapse, and other conditions unique to pregnancy, postpartum, and menopausal states. She also treats males for pelvic pain, urinary incontinence, urinary retention, and post-prostatectomy conditions.

Special skills include: myofascial release, visceral mobilization, treadmill running analysis, pregnancy, and ergonomics. Dr. Casey has a background in exercise science, classical pilates and personal training.

Dr. Casey was a contributing author to Julie Tupler’s book on diastasis recti. She serves as an instructor of the urinary incontinence segment for VCU’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program and frequently serves as a Clinical Instructor for third year DPT students. She has lectured on a variety of topics related to the trunk and pelvis including men’s pelvic health, postpartum, pregnancy, diastasis recti, urinary incontinence, bowel and bladder conditions with anxiety and postpartum return to running. She served as teaching assistant for Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute.

Dr. Casey received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from New York University and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is currently licensed in Virginia. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and section on Pelvic Health

 
 
 

Angel Thomas

Physical Therapist
Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS)

Angel Thomas has extensive experience and passion in treating pelvic and orthopedic conditions. She lives in Richmond, VA with her husband. She has four grown children located throughout the US and UK, which allows her the opportunity to explore and travel to new destinations.

She has been an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist for more than 30 years and has more than 20 years experience in pelvic and abdominal conditions. She has extensive training in pelvic floor with courses in dry needling, visceral massage, urinary and fecal incontinence, rectal and vaginal pain, constipation, pregnancy, postpartum, and post-surgical conditions related to the abdomen, prostate and pelvic floor.

Angel served as teaching assistant at Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute and owned a private practice in Athens, Ohio before moving to Richmond. She has taught numerous lectures to Ohio University Physical Therapy students on incontinence and pain. She has mentored peers and students and has guided student research projects presented at the pelvic health section of the APTA.

Angel’s philosophy is to provide individualized patient care to help you achieve your goals using a holistic treatment approach that incorporates her extensive experience. She incorporates extensive patient education to ensure long-term, optimal success.

 
 
 

Shannon Somogyi

C-IAYT Yoga Therapist

Shannon is a trauma-informed yoga therapist, yoga instructor, holistic health coach, Reiki practitioner and herbalist.

A student of yoga for 31 years and teaching for 13, Shannon's journey into teaching yoga began with Family Yoga. Teaching the entire family from infants to seniors. Those studies included Yoga for pregnancy, adolescents and children with different abilities like ASD, ADD, SPD and more. As soon as she completed her first 200 hour certification in 2011, she became a "training junkie" so to speak. Yearning for more knowledge and skills to help her community and clients, Shannon began her studies into Trauma Conscious Yoga and completed her Yoga Therapy training and certification in 2015. A certified and registered C-IAYT, Yoga Therapist, she continues to lead donation based community classes and assists private clients as well. She offers Trauma Conscious Yoga Therapy classes with a local counseling office. Shannon volunteers with the McShin Foundation leading Yoga for Addiction and Recovery, as well as a monthly "Wellness Wednesday" for the entire organization including alumni. She is currently studying to be a Menopause Coaching Specialist. ``

 
 
 

Lil Harris

Yoga Therapist-in-Training and Instructor

Lil Harris is passionate about yoga and helping people achieve balance through yoga therapy and yoga classes.

She has completed 200 Hour and 300 Hour Yoga Teacher training. Lil has worked privately with clients and in fitness, arts and education settings. Lil is a Certified Personal Trainer, Yoga Teacher, and Group Fitness Instructor. She has taught chair yoga, restorative yoga, yin yoga, gentle yoga and slow flow yoga.

She is currently in the Integral Yoga Therapy Program Practicum Portion for C-IAYT which is the 800-hour yoga therapy training in stress management, adaptive yoga, human body and disease, mental health, basics of Ayurveda, Raja Yoga and Foundations of Yoga Therapy.

Lil graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude.
